PLEEC project presented at the World Renewable Energy Congress in London - Planning for energy efficient cities (PLEEC)

PLEEC project presented at the World Renewable Energy Congress in London

The World Renewable Energy Congress took place at Kingston University in London from 3 to 8 August 2014.

At this occasion, Iana Vassileva from PLEEC project partner Mälardalen University, Västerås, held a vivid presentation about one of the PLEEC partner cities titled " Eskilstuna (Sweden) as an example of a smart city from an energy efficiency perspective".

After a general presentation of the PLEEC project she focused on the City of Eskilstuna as a good example of a small-medium sized city and its efforts towards energy efficiency and sustainability. In the presentation she highlighted some best practice examples which are being implemented in Eskilstuna like e.g. the sorting of waste in plastic bags of different colours, use of biogas for public busses, building renovation projects and their impact as well as the involvement of citizens in different activities related to energy and water savings.
