PLEEC project partner from TU Wien is keynote speaker at REALCORP 2014 conference

PLEEC project partner from TU Wien is keynote speaker at REALCORP 2014 conferenceFrom 21 to 23 May 2014 the conference REALCORP 2014 - 19th International Conference on Urban Planning, Regional Development and Information Society in Vienna will go deeply into the subject of smart cities and smartness and exchange knowledge on current topics such as:

  • What does "Smart City" mean in terms of quality of life?
  • How does it influence the economic perspectives?
  • Are the concepts of sustainability and resilience part of "Smart Cities"?
  • What about politics and administration, policies and governance?
  • How do "Smart Solutions" influence the "hardware" of a city, the urban fabric?
  • What is the role of urban/spatial planning in and for "Smart Cities"?

Around 300 participants from over 50 countries worldwide will take part in the conference.

PLEEC project partner and leader of WP2 "Smart city Profiles" Technical University of Vienna is actively contributing to the conference:

As one of the keynote speakers Prof. Dr. Rudolf Giffinger, Head of the Centre of Regional Science at Vienna University of Technology, will give a lecture about "Smart City: a Place-Based Understanding of Urban Challenges" on Wednesday 21 may at 10.30 hrs.

On Thursday, 22 may, he will chair the Smart Cities Workshop and - together with Florian Strohmayer and Herbert Hemis from Vienna University of Technology - present experiences from the PLEEC project ("Smart Energy Efficient Urban Development: Experiences of PLEEC").
